P.J. HARRIS

Born and raised in Guntersville, P.J. received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University. He graduated with honors, Cum Laude, in 1994. After graduating from Auburn, P.J. decided he would like to go to law school. While attending the Cumberland School of Law, P.J. began working for Beard & Beard. During this time, he assisted in the investigation and filing of a nationwide class action against IBP/Tyson Foods for antitrust violations. In 2003, a jury in federal court in Montgomery, Alabama returned a $2.2 billion dollar verdict in favor of cattle producers throughout the country.
After graduation in 1997, P.J. returned to Guntersville and officially joined the firm.
P.J. has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts throughout Alabama.
P.J.’s range of legal experience is broad, handling everything from divorces to capital murder cases.
P.J. has worked on hundreds of civil jury cases which include auto accidents and employment disputes. In a recent employment dispute trial in Marshall County, P.J. received a $350,000 verdict for his client.

P.J. has been retained and appointed for several criminal cases, including defending a client facing capital murder charges. He also prosecutes for other municipalities in and around Marshall County.
While P.J. is experienced in many areas of law, he focuses most of his time in the courtroom. He handles all types of cases including personal injury, wrongful death, insurance disputes, workers compensation, employment disputes, general business litigation, and divorce cases.

In his spare time, P.J. is a 3rd generation farmer on his family’s farm. Working a farm has helped P.J. understand the tribulations farmers face and how to most effectively represent them. P.J. is qualified to represent the needs of all farmers. In addition, his engineering background helps him represent clients with complex causation issues, which require engineering experts. P.J. is a member of The Alabama Association of Justice. He serves on the Executive Committee and is a Trial Contributor to the Alabama Association of Justice. P.J. is the City Attorney for the Town of Douglas. He is a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Guntersville.
In his free time, P.J. enjoys watching his two boys, Jack and Gus, play multiple sports, as well as hunting with them any chance he gets. P.J. and his wife, Winn, are both Guntersville natives and have been married for over fifteen years.
